End of Life Specialist and Death Doula
Compassion and caring at the end of life
What is a death doula?
A death doula is a non-medical professional that provides physical, emotional or grieving a death. A death doula is synonymous with an end-of-life doula. A death doula cares for both the person passing and the family as one unit.
Hospice and similar programs do not have the capacity to help with issues coming from our denial and avoidance around the dying process. The death doula started to fill the gaps that healthcare, hospitals, and loved ones can't provide. As well, death doulas bring a sacred space to the dying process and give caregivers a break. A death doula can help bring meaning to the dying process and get the family/friends ready for the last moments with their loved ones.
